Happy New Year

2012 is the year of the dragon, and it's finally here. Yesterday we were so busy visiting families and had a little gathering as well. It's always great to see everyone on such a festive occasion. I handed out all my ba'nh te't (Vietnamese sticky rice cakes).

Vietnamese/Chinese families usually have a family altar, to show their respect to their ancestors. We have the alta at our home as well. We have a tray of five different fruits on our family altar called "Ngũ Quả" (five fruits type).

During Tết the altar is thoroughly cleaned and we placed our offerings there.

Afterward, we played bo` cua ca' cop. Bo Cua Ca Cop is a Vietnamese game usually played on Vietnamese new year using 3 dice.
